About Burntwood Cemetery
Burntwood Cemetery is a peaceful and picturesque final resting place for your loved ones. It is managed with great pride by the team at Burntwood Town Council with our gardeners and grounds keepers.
The Cemetery is owned and managed by Burntwood Town Council. It offers full burial plots for up to three people as well as cremated remains plots for up to four people. Prices vary and a full price list is available here.
Burntwood Town Council is a member of the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management (ICCM) and Burntwood Cemetery holds the ICCM ‘Bronze’ award for Cemetery vision and management.

Opening times
The Cemetery is open from:
9.00 a.m. until 4.00 p.m. 01 October – 31 March
9.00 a.m. until 8.00 p.m. 01 April – 30 September
Burial times
Most interments take place between the hours of 9.30 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. on Monday to Friday
Interments outside these hours can be considered, by arrangement, and for an additional fee. These might include ‘Twilight’ interments in the Summer, or Saturday interments
Car Parking
Short-term parking is available on the road through the Cemetery.
Disabled access
The walkways in Burntwood Cemetery are wheelchair accessible. However, there are some inclines that visitors should be aware of. If an incline is too steep, there are longer paths which will make access easier.
Toilets
There are no toilets at the Cemetery.
Purchasing a plot
When you purchase a plot, you will be granted an Exclusive Right of Burial (or ERoB). This gives the purchaser the right to the plot for 30 years, and to erect a headstone or marker.
If you wish to purchase a plot, we suggest you first contact a Funeral Director who can help you with advice and guidance.
Our lawn burial plots can accommodate up to 3 coffins or a combination of coffin and cremated remains. Headstones are fixed to a plinth where flowers can be placed.
Cremated remains plots sit in a designated section where you may place a ‘desktop’ style memorial.
Unfortunately, plots cannot be reserved, but the cemetery has plenty of room for everyone who would like to take advantage of this beautiful setting.
Babies and Children’s section
We have set aside a separate, quiet area specially for the interment of babies and children where bereaved parents and families can spend time with their departed little ones.
Memorials
An Exclusive Right of Burial includes the right to place a memorial to the deceased. We recommend that you work with your chosen stonemason to create an appropriate message.
The Memorial Wall
The cemetery now has a memorial wall, slightly set back from the main burial ground, where you may place a memorial plaque. It’s a quiet area overlooking the cemetery where the bereaved can sit and think about those they have lost. Memorials are not solely for those with graves in the cemetery. Plaques with your chosen wording can be obtained from Burntwood Town Council using the contact information above.
Rules and regulations
Burntwood Town Council is responsible for the general upkeep of the Cemetery. However, the purchaser of the plot is responsible for the upkeep of the plot and adherence to the regulations. Our rules and regulations are designed to ensure the Cemetery continues to maintain its high standards.

Burials from outside Burntwood
A deceased person from outside the area can be buried at Burntwood Cemetery. An additional cost would be applicable.
Those who may have passed away in a care home or similar outside the area will be considered as Burntwood residents if their main residence prior to entering the care home was in Burntwood.
Managing your own cremated remains interment
Lots of our clients are now choosing simple cremations. If this is your choice, and you would like to inter those ashes in Burntwood Cemetery, you might want to consider managing that interment yourself. If you decide to do this, the staff at the Cemetery will, of course, support you.
