Holocaust Memorial Day took place this week on the 27th January – the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp during World War Two.

Burntwood Town Council took part in the Light the Darkness national moment by lighting our HQ at the Old Mining College purple, in memory of all victims of genocide.

Chair of Burntwood Town Council, Cllr Kathy Coe MBE said:

“Holocaust Memorial Day is a time for us to reflect on the darkest chapters of human history and to honour the memories of those who suffered and perished. It is also a reminder of our shared responsibility to stand against hatred, prejudice, and injustice in all its forms. In Burntwood, we come together to ensure that the lessons of the past guide us toward a future of unity, compassion, and peace.”
