A major project was undertaken this summer, including remodelling the box office, bars and foyer spaces, adding new toilets and improving accessibility.
Councillor Coe said “It was with great pleasure that I found myself attending the re-launch event of the Garrick Theatre in Lichfield. After undergoing some refurbishment the Theatre is now open for business and looking very smart. While some of the work is cosmetic, it has also been made more accessible.
I have always enjoyed a trip to the Theatre whether it is to see a pantomime or Shakespeare, a musical event or a comedian. The Garrick has all of these and many more. The Green Room is a café / bar and is very welcoming. I particularly liked the new seats and the decoration throughout is really smart, and in part pink (my favourite colour).
It was a lovely evening of celebration with, as someone said, the great and the good of Lichfield. I’m still not sure which of those categories I fitted into. I am very much looking forward to visiting again to see a production. Who knows I might even bump into the Dame again.”
