Councillor Kathy Coe MBE attended the launch party for Chasewater Mews on 02 October.
“I arrived at Chasewater Mews, a care home in Burntwood, on 02 October, to a very warm welcome, and went through a balloon arch to a selection of drinks. I was taken through to the lounge, where a singer was setting up, and residents and their relatives were gathered, and from where I could see the garden, and a gazebo with hot and cold food, and tables and chairs.
I was very inspired by the manager, Sarah, who was obviously very popular with both staff and residents. She has been there for about 18 months and has made a great difference to the motivation and the teamwork there. The residents were encouraged to get up and dance when the singer began, and they were able to ask for their favourite songs. I saw on a notice board that there were lots of activities planned, such as a pirate dressing up day, singers, quiz nights. It was really nice to see that there was so much to do. They also have regular visits from hairdressers, optometrists and podiatrists. I spoke to some of the family members of residents and they were really happy with the home. They told me how settled their family member is, and how good the food, the activities and the staff teams are. I spoke to some of the care staff, and the chefs. They all took a great deal of pride in their work and they had great relationships with each other and with the residents and management.
Sarah did a very moving speech about her time at the home, and her success in raising the bar at the home. She was full of admiration for the team, who are a very fundamental part of the success. I left feeling that I could have stayed for much longer, it was such a lovely atmosphere. I also left with a great deal of admiration for the work that they do there. I would happily entrust them with a member of my family’.
