Thursday 11 January 2024 – Cllrs Darren Ennis, Di Evans and Paul Taylor were really pleased to visit Burntwood’s first Memory Café this morning, run by Magnolia Friends. The Memory Café will meet every Thursday from 11am – 1pm at the Burntwood Memorial Community Association, and welcomes people living with dementia and their carers for activities, music, refreshments and support. A huge thank you to Karen from Magnolia Friends for setting up this much needed service. Cllr Evans said “I was delighted to attend this new, much needed event with my fellow Cllrs this morning. It was obvious how much both those with dementia and their carers valued the friendship and interaction that was taking place and I would encourage others in the same situation to participate. It is going to be held every Thursday at Burntwood Memorial Hall from 11am to 1pm and there are various activities to get involved with. Karen and her volunteers are a lovely, caring and welcoming group of people with excellent skills and knowledge to support all participants.”
