Burntwood Town Council wants local businesses to have clear, practical support in one place. Whether you are starting out, in your first few years, or looking to take the next step, this page brings together local support, advice, and links to help your business grow.
Our local businesses are a big part of what makes Burntwood a great place to live, work, and visit. They create jobs, provide services, and keep money moving in the local economy.
Sometimes a relatively small amount of support can make a real difference. That might be a piece of equipment, a digital upgrade, mentoring, or access to the right business network.
This page is here to make it easier for Burntwood businesses to find the help that is available and take that next step.
Business Support and Start Up Grant Scheme
Burntwood Town Council has launched a new Business Support and Start Up Grant Scheme to help new and early stage businesses in Burntwood.
The scheme is designed to support businesses with their first step or next step through a mix of practical business support and small capital funding.
Support may include:
- A small capital grant for eligible business costs
- Funded membership of the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce
- Mentoring and wider business support
- Signposting to other useful local and regional services
This scheme is aimed at businesses that are based in Burntwood, operate mainly in Burntwood, or can clearly show a local economic benefit.
What the grant can help with
Depending on the application, support may help with things such as:
- Equipment or tools
- Website or digital improvements
- Marketing and branding
- Training and skills development
- Workspace or shopfront improvements
- Professional advice to help your business grow
Chamber of Commerce support
As part of the scheme, successful applicants may be offered funded membership and support through the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce.

- wider business support and connections
For many businesses, the right support network can be just as valuable as funding.

Business Support

Business rates and support from Lichfield District Council
If you run a business from premises in Burntwood, Lichfield District Council is the main place to go for business rates information and many day to day business services. LDC provides information on business rates, reliefs, licences and permits, planning for business, trade waste, and other business support services.
You may also be eligible for Small Business Rate Relief. Lichfield District Council says this may apply if your property has a rateable value below £15,000 and your business only uses one property. Properties with a rateable value of £12,000 or less may pay no business rates, with relief tapering between £12,001 and £15,000.
If you are a new occupier of business premises in the district, Lichfield District Council also has a process to set up a business rates account.
Start up and growth support
Businesses in Staffordshire can also access wider support through the Stoke on Trent and Staffordshire Growth Hub. Staffordshire County Council says Growth Hub advisers can provide free guidance, funding programme information, and specialist support to help businesses start or grow.
This can be useful if you need help with:
- Starting a business
- Growth planning
- Funding and finance
- Finding the right support programme
- Specialist advice
