Burntwood Town Council’s Student Award opens for applications

Burntwood Town Council have opened their Student Award for applications again this year. Celebrating the life and achievements of Stephen Sutton MBE, the Award gives a practical, helping hand to talented young people living in Burntwood.

The Student Award is available for people aged 11 – 19 to apply for, to encourage them to develop their talents and go on to even greater achievements.

Two awards of £1,000 are available this year, and the money can be used to assist with a variety of things including purchasing specialist equipment, accessing extra tuition or coaching, competition fees and travel.

Councillor Sue Woodward, Chair of Burntwood Town Council said:

“Our Student Award has proved invaluable to students in our town who need that bit of extra support to develop their talents. Whether for equipment, for additional training, to help cover travel costs or for anything else they might need, we want to encourage our talented young people to apply.

Set up originally to honour the memory of Stephen Sutton who, in his short life, brought so many positives to Burntwood and the whole country, the Student Award is a fitting tribute to him and our town’s talented young people.”
