As Chair of the Town Council I am often being gently propelled out of my comfort zone.  On Saturday that was definitely the case when I was judging the Burntwood Be A Friend Scarecrow Competition.  Strangely I have never judged a scarecrow competition before.  The only judging I have done was a baking competition.  Having eaten a fair few cakes in my time I felt much more prepared for that competition.

I decided to google how to judge scarecrows, and yes, I found some results.  I put together a spreadsheet with the criteria to score them.  It was very professional.   Unfortunately after having a little battle with my chain of office I completely forgot it.  I did remember most of the criteria luckily so they were judged fairly.

I was very impressed with all of the entries and the scores were very close.  It was really difficult choosing a winner. But in the end everyone got a prize.

Thank you so much to the people who took the time to enter.  They did a great job and we were very impressed.  Also thank you to the Burntwood Be A Friend team for their organising and arranging everything.

Here are some photos so that you can see the standard of the entries and hopefully it will be an encouragement to some of you for next year.
