Burntwood Town Council Seeks Views on Community Grants

Each year Burntwood Town Council sets aside money to provide a variety of grants for local voluntary and community organisations who work to benefit the town.

Over the last two years, the larger grants have focused on supporting specific projects that provide services for young people aged 11 – 18 years, and mental health and wellbeing support for adults. These areas were chosen by Burntwood residents who said that they felt these were the priority areas at the time.

As the Town Council looks to enter a new round of investment, we would like to find out what priority areas residents now feel are most important, and to understand what those needs are, we would like to hear from you. You can share your views by completing our survey here.

Councillor Sue Woodward, Chair of Burntwood Town Council said:

“The Better Burntwood Fund makes a real difference here in our town and this consultation gives all residents an opportunity to shape what additional services are needed here. We want to ensure we reflect your priorities so please take a few minutes to tell us about what is important to you and how we should spend this next round of funding.”

There are some things that grants cannot be used for due to funding being available from other sources, such as statutory services like schools, GP surgeries and emergency services, or services that are the responsibility of other Local Authorities, such as road repairs and street scene maintenance.

All the views given in the survey will be shared with Councillors to enable them to determine what the priorities are. Burntwood Town Council will then make larger grants available for local voluntary and community organisations to apply for based on those priorities.
