Defibrillator Donated to Celebrate Burntwood and District U3A’s Anniversary
Members of Burntwood Town Council were delighted to attend Burntwood and District u3a’s 10th Anniversary event, celebrating a decade since the group were formed.
Burntwood and District u3a are a learning organisation who extend and share their knowledge in a friendly and social environment.
In recognition of their anniversary, the group have generously donated a defibrillator to add to the town’s network of life-saving equipment which will be installed in the summer.
Hazel Whitehouse, Founding Member of Burntwood and District u3a said:
“Burntwood and District u3a started in July 2015 with just 30 members. Since that time the members have shared their skills and interests in a very wide variety of activities. Interest groups have depended entirely upon the wishes of the members. There are presently over 300 members who benefit and contribute to the informal learning and social events.
Over the years, this organisation has come to mean something very special to all involved. We chose to celebrate our 10th anniversary by reflecting back on those years and acknowledging the fact that everyone plays a part in its success. The theme therefore was a huge THANKYOU.
We consider that we have a part to play in the wider society of Burntwood and wished to highlight this and do something of value. We therefore chose to use some of our funds to purchase a defibrillator as we recognised the importance of these in our town.”
Cllr Laura Ennis, Chair of Burntwood Town Council said:
“It was wonderful to be invited to the 10th anniversary of Burntwood and District u3a. We enjoyed a display of different activities that are on offer throughout the afternoon and were given a fantastic insight into what the group means to its members.
I was pleased to receive a cheque from the group to purchase a new defibrillator for Burntwood that the group have been fundraising for. I can’t thank them enough for all they’ve done and wish them well for the next 10 years”.
