At its Annual Meeting on 22 May, Burntwood Town Council elected Cllr Laura Ennis as its new Chair and Cllr Sue Woodward as Vice Chair for the coming civic year.

The position of Chair is a prestigious and vital role in the life of the Council, carrying both ceremonial and leadership responsibilities. As the public face of the Council, the Chair not only presides over Council meetings to ensure orderly and effective debate but also represents Burntwood at civic functions, community events, and official engagements. Each year, the Chair also selects a Charity of the Year, championing its cause and spearheading fundraising and awareness efforts on its behalf.

Reflecting on her new role, Cllr Ennis said:

“I would like to take the opportunity to welcome my Vice-Chair Sue, I’m really excited to have Sue as my Vice-Chair. I’m look forward to working with you, learning from you, and sometimes leaning on you if needed. Sue has years of experience and knowledge that I can hopefully learn and use. I really appreciate that you were willing to take the role of Vice-Chair and I hope we have a wonderful year working together.”

Cllr Ennis added that she will be announcing the Chair’s Charity at the new meeting of the Town Council in May.
