Holly Grove Primary Academy and Coffee Mates, a social group for older people have joined together to share a love of reading and books.

Intergenerational reading brings people of all ages together to exchange stories, knowledge and experiences, and the group plan to meet once a month at Chase Terrace Community Centre.

Cllr Sue Woodward, Vice Chair at Burntwood Town Council and member of Coffee Mates said:

“Hollygrove’s project to encourage intergenerational reading partnerships is one I am really pleased to support and be part of. I hope it will be a real boost for young readers and a source of great pleasure to us older ones.”

Dawn O’Hare, Head Teacher at Holly Grove Primary Academy said:

“What a super time was had by the children from Holly Grove Primary Academy as they met with older people at Chase Terrace Community Centre for an inter-generational reading session. It was wonderful to see the joy and connection that sharing stories brings across generations. Our pupils are already looking forward to the next event!”
