Carers Group at Burntwood Library
Cllr Kathy Coe and Cllr Di Evans recently attended MHA Communities first Carers Group held at Burntwood Library, after the group received a grant from Burntwood Town Council’s Better Burntwood fund.
Held on the 1st Tuesday of the month from 10:30am – 12pm, Community Coordinators and volunteers from MHA Communities invite carers to drop in and meet others in a welcoming and supportive environment, to share information, advice and provide support to each other.
Cllr Kathy Coe, Chair of Burntwood Town Council said:
“Any of us could become a carer without any warning. I have great admiration for those who take on this role. I wanted to celebrate the work that they do by hosting an afternoon tea for them to get together, have a couple of hours to enjoy some ‘me time’ and enjoy some crafts and pampering. I was so pleased that the time helped them so much that MHA Communities have now organised regular drop ins so that they can meet together, share their experiences and offer each other support.
Thank you MHA Communities for your work in supporting carers and thank you to those wonderful carers who make life so much better for those they care for.”
Helen Dukes, Community Coordinator at MHA Communities said:
“We had a great first carers meeting at Burntwood Library which was well attended with everyone talking and supporting each other and looking forward to the next meeting.
We have secured funding to allow the group to continue for the next 12 months.”
