BURNTWOOD WAKES FESTIVAL
Burntwood Town Council organises the annual Burntwood Wakes Festival - a major event in the town's calendar. The Festival is held at the Burntwood Rugby Club over a summer weekend.
The 2010 Festival took place on Friday 23 July and Saturday 24 July and included the following:
Friday 23 July: "Wakes Unsigned" - Neon Sound Studios, on behalf of Burntwood Town Council, presented eight young bands from the local area.
Saturday 24 July: "Family Fun Day" - Burntwood Town Council offered an afternoon of entertainment for all the family. The varied line-up included archery tuition, Jamie Squibb Freestyle Motocross Display Team, climbing tower, Splat Wars, inflatable world, live bands, "Festival of football" tournament, dog agility demonstrations, dance troupes, Chester the Clown plus the Community Information marquee, Craft Fayre marquee and charity stalls.
Saturday 24 July: "Jazz in the Park" - Gates open 6pm, concert runs from 6.45pm - 10pm. Burntwood Town Council presented the Shrewsbury Jazz Orchestra accompanied by vocalist Laura Collins. The Orchestra weresupported by the Chase Terrace Technology College Wind Band.
